Official craft beer needs more local flavor

Regarding “Today’s forecast: ’72 and Hoppy’ is San Diego’s official beer” (July 12): San Diego has named its official beer 72 and Hoppy. Sounds like a wonderful, drinkable craft beer.

But to get the real San Diego experience, it should be served in a battered tin cup to represent our infrastructure and have a 16 percent surcharge to reflect how we treat our visitors.

If soda tax is fine, then beer tax should be too

Regarding “Soda tax no panacea for obesity problems” (July 5): I have asked for years why we don’t put a small tax on beer. Doesn’t that cause obesity? Could it be the beer industry has some strong influence here?
