Slots, poker and, now, beer: Del Lago casino in Waterloo taps its … – NewYorkUpstate.com

WATERLOO, NY — They say the house has the edge at any casino, and now the house at del Lago Resort & Casino near Waterloo has its own beer.

Del Lago Summer IPA debuts this week at the casino, which opened in February in the town of Tyre at State Thruway Exit 41. The beer is made for del Lago at CB Craft Brewers in Honeoye Falls, south of Rochester.

CB’s, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is well known throughout central and western New York for producing house beers for bars, restaurants and other venues that do not have their own brewing equipment.

The IPA, or India Pale Ale, will be served on tap starting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the casino’s entertainment venue, The Vine. The beer is a light golden IPA, with citrus and tropical aromas  from the Galena and Citra hops and an addition of orange peel.

“The vision for del Lago Resort & Casino has always been to embrace and promote all that the region has to offer, including local breweries, wineries, businesses and tourist destinations,” said Jeff Babinski, del Lago’s general manager, in a statement.

Del Lago is one of the three full-service, non-Indian casinos that have opened in Upstate New York in the past seven months, joining Tioga Downs in Nichols and Rivers Casino & Resort in Schnectady. Del Lago, built for $440 million, has 1,980 slot machines and 99 gaming tables, including 14 poker tables and several dining options, including Portico by Fabio.

It is opening its 225-room hotel and spa on July 1, several weeks ahead of schedule.
