Santa Fe man convicted in 2014 casino rape case – Santa Fe New Mexican

A Rio Arriba County jury convicted a Santa Fe man Wednesday in the 2014 rape of a woman in the parking lot of Pojoaque Pueblo’s Cities of Gold Casino.

Bobby Pacheco, 40, faces up to 21 years in prison if he receives the maximum sentence in the case, in which he was convicted of false imprisonment, criminal sexual contact and criminal sexual penetration following a three-day trial in the state District Court in Tierra Amarilla.

Pacheco’s sentence also could be enhanced because he has a prior felony conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in a 2013 Taos County case.

According to a Santa Fe County sheriff’s deputy report, Pacheco’s victim in the 2014 rape told officers she had met him inside the casino and they had walked to the parking lot at about 10:45 p.m. It was unclear if the woman was inside a car when the attack occurred.

The report said Pacheco fled the area but was found less than a mile away.
