Police: Conestoga woman stole 24 guns from family members, sold them to 2 businesses on Craigslist – LancasterOnline

A Conestoga Township woman is accused of stealing 24 guns from family members and selling them to two businesses and someone she met on Craigslist, authorities say.

Megan Alexander, 41, of 12 Dogwood Drive is charged with a second-degree felony connected to each gun she allegedly stole as well as two more theft charges related to the theft of a diamond engagement ring and tools from her relatives’ homes.

During a police interview Aug. 30, Alexander admitted to the thefts and told police that she had recently relapsed from her drug addiction and was doing crack, according to police reports.

“She is a self-admitted addict,” West Lampeter Township police Detective Steven Heinly said. “I’m not sure (the money) was solely used for (her addiction), but it was part of it, I believe.”

After removing the items from gun cabinets at her father’s and brother’s homes, Alexander sold 14 of the firearms to Diamond Estate Sales Consignment Gallery and Thrift Store, 232 Hartman Bridge Road, between June 17 to Aug. 25, police said.

She also sold guns to Morr’s Outdoors, 2298 Willow Street Pike, and an individual buyer that she had met on Craigslist, police said.

The guns weren’t reported stolen until after the transactions had taken place, said Leonard Kasper, owner of Diamond Estate Sales Consignment Gallery and Thrift Store.

Alexander told the store she was helping clean out a house and the guns were given to her, police said.

However, gun sale protocols allowed for a quick resolution once it was revealed what was going on, Kasper said.

“We have to keep track of everything,” said Nathan Morrison, owner of Morr’s Outdoors where Alexander sold three guns.
