Pennsylvania Regulators Revisit Ownership Of Second Philadelphia Casino – Gambling Compliance (subscription)

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has scheduled a public hearing on July 31 to receive additional input about whether the ownership structure of a forthcoming Philadelphia casino comports with state law.

The hearing is in response to a June 20 Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling ordering the PGCB to take another look at whether the Live! Hotel & Casino’s application to build a casino complex in South Philadelphia violates state law limiting investor ownership in multiple casinos.

The state’s highest court asked the board to scrutinize whether Live! Casino principal Watche Manoukian’s financial interest in the project would exceed the 33.3 percent ownership cap in a second casino under the state Gaming Act.
