Pegula Ice Arena may host another NHL game – Centre Daily Times

It appears the NHL will be making a return to the Penn State campus this fall.

While there are no details from the university, a number of not-so-subtle hints were dropped on various social media accounts Sunday.

Among the postings on Twitter were a picture of the area behind the goal line at Pegula Ice Arena with the lines of the trapezoid — an area restricting goalies used in NHL games but not in NCAA contests — and a question asking which NHL teams Penn State fans would like to see play at the arena. The latter also stated “We’re bringing the NHL back, coming soon to Pegula Ice Arena.”

The arena hosted its first NHL teams last September when the Minnesota Wild faced the Buffalo Sabres — who are owned by Penn State alumnus and hockey program benefactor Terry Pegula.
