Off-duty Avon police officer arrested at Jack Cleveland Casino –

CLEVELAND, Ohio — An off-duty Avon police officer was arrested Friday at the Jack Cleveland Casino.

Officer James Cline, 30, is charged with misdemeanor drunken disorderly conduct. He pleaded not guilty Monday at his arraignment and his case was assigned to Cleveland Municipal Judge Charles Patton Jr.

He was released on a personal bond. A trial is scheduled for April 24. Court records do not list an attorney for Cline, who was hired by Avon police in April 2017. Attempts to reach Cline for comment Monday were unsuccessful.

The incident happened about 10:45 p.m. Friday at the downtown Cleveland casino, according to a police dispatch report.

Cleveland police have not released a report detailing what led to Cline’s arrest.

Avon police spokesman James Drozdowski that Cline was placed on paid administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal affairs investigation.

Drozdowski said Cline has no prior disciplinary cases.

“The City of Avon holds their officers to a high standard of conduct both on duty as well as off duty, any violation of policy may result in disciplinary action,” Drozdowski said in a statement.
