Two Thousand Oaks men were arrested and numerous guns were seized after an investigation into illegal firearms transfer, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday.

Detectives with the Thousand Oaks Police Department had investigated illegal transfer of firearms in the city during July and determined evidence of such activity would be found in a home in the 200 block of Windsong Street, authorities said. The street is in a residential area generally west of Moorpark Road and north of Avenida De Los Arboles.

Police services in Thousand Oaks are provided by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office under a contract.

On Thursday afternoon, detectives served a search warrant at the home and contacted two men, identified as Evan Brodsky, 28, and Jason Wilson, 36, outside the house, according to authorities.


Detectives reportedly found evidence of illegal firearms transfer at the property. They also found eight handguns, three AR-15 rifles, two shotguns, multiple high-capacity magazines and about 2,600 rounds of ammunition, officials allege. Both men were arrested on suspicion of felony offenses, according to authorities.

Brodsky was arrested on suspicion of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person possessing ammunition and possessing a large-capacity magazine, authorities said. He was booked into Ventura County jail and released on $50,000 bail, according to authorities. Since he was not able to legally possess guns, officials said, the weapons were allegedly transferred to him illegally at some point.

Wilson was arrested on suspicion of selling controlled substances and other drug-related offenses, sheriff’s officials said. Detectives allegedly found 15 grams of heroin,
