Mike Heika, Stars beat writer for SportsDayDFW.com and The Dallas Morning News, answered your questions about the team in a live chat recently. Here are some highlights: 

Do you think Tyler Seguin’s rise as an overall player will continue as rapidly as it was this year with Hitch gone?

Heika: Yes, Tyler Seguin is maturing as an athlete and a person, and it’s my belief that he will do a good job with whatever coach he has. He really seems to be stepping up his overall performance.

With Miro Heiskanen supposedly coming here next season, which defenseman do you think has the highest odds of being bounced out of the rotation?

Heika: On paper, the logical response would be to keep Marc Methot (because he has one year left on his contract) and then let Dan Hamhuis and Greg Pateryn go in free agency.

You could then acquire a depth defenseman who is a veteran and doesn’t mind being scratched (opening the door for both Heiskanen and Julius Honka to play) or you could maybe try to trade one of the defensemen under contract for a higher dollar veteran who could jump right into the top four.

I think there are going to be a lot of options for the front office, and the new coach will have some input on that. My guess is Heiskanen and Honka will get a chance to play regular minutes in the NHL next season.

Draft is June 23. How quick do you think Jim Nill wants to find a coach so they can be on the same page for the draft?

Heika: Coaches really don’t have a big say in the draft. One, the 18-year-olds are typically 3 to 4 years away from the NHL, so the coach might not even be here. Two, if a high pick could move up, the
