Chemical leak at Radford Army Ammunition Plant contained, no threat to community – WDBJ7

RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) According to BAE Systems, the Radford Army Ammunition Facility experienced a chemical leak in one of its production buildings Tuesday night. The issue was quickly identified and isolated, and access was limited to ensure the safety of all in the area.

Facility and local emergency services immediately responded and all employees in the immediate area were evacuated.

There were no injuries and there is no danger to employees, subcontractors or the local community. There were no residential evacuations.

“As always, the health and safety of our employees and the communities where we live and work are always our top priority,” Chris Finley, spokesperson for BAE Systems, said.
