50 years ago, 1968: President Johnson’s commission on violence, in the first such data ever assembled, had traced a distinct correlation between rising tension and fear in the country and skyrocketing gun sales. It found that in the first half of 1968, manufacturers produced more than 20 bullets for every man, woman and child in the US.

25 years ago, 1993: Sandusky’s James Sampson and his crew recently completed a very successful sailing season on his boat “Bullet.” The Sandusky Sailing Club yacht won the most coveted award on Lake Erie when it was named the 1993 “Boat of the Year.”

10 years ago, 2008: David Kaman, originally from Sandusky, has been named as an Ohio Super Lawyer for 2008. Attorneys named as Ohio Super Lawyers represent the top 5 percent of the practicing attorneys in the state. Kaman works in Cleveland at Kaman & Cusimano.
