Tropicana Evansville has announced it is officially moving into its new land-based casino on Oct. 20, 2017.

Indiana’s first-ever riverboat casino will halt operations on Oct. 16, 2017. Tropicana Evansville projects the new $50 million casino will start taking bets at 10 a.m. local time on Oct. 20.

A new state law, passed in 2015, is now allowing the state’s 10 riverboats, desiring to do so, to move off the water and onto dry land. Construction of the new casino, part of a downtown renewal project, began early in 2016 and will be completed well within the expected 18 to 24-month time frame.
