Take a look at the top five guns sold at Williams Gun Sight – The Flint Journal

DAVISON TWP, MI — With a showroom full of hundreds of guns — from pistols to rifles and shotguns — Brian Smith walked among the racks and display cases through at Williams Gun Sight and picked out the top five sellers.

Here’s a look at the top five weapons sold now at the Davison Township business:

  1. Ruger 77, .44-caliber, $685. Smith said with a change in state gun laws for hunting season that allow the use of the rifle with a handgun cartridge — as opposed to limiting hunters in the southern Lower Peninsula to shotguns, muzzleloaders or handguns — sales have increased sixfold over the same period last year.
  2. Smith & Wesson M&P Shield, .40-caliber or 9mm, $419. The smaller handgun is a popular choice for home protection, Smith said, as well as for carrying a concealed weapon because of its size.
  3. Smith & Wesson M&P 15, .223-caliber or 5.56mm, $654. A look similar to the AR-15, Smith said it’s mainly used for “target shooting or varmint hunting.”
  4. Glock 42, .38-caliber, $439. Smith said the handgun is another choice many residents go to for self-defense. He said handgun sales in general have boomed in recent years, with the selection in the store going from a cubbyhole behind the rifles to filling several cases inside the showroom.
  5. Ruger SR 1911, .45-caliber, $669. The gun originated in 1911, thus the year in the title. Smith said the handgun is popular because of its price and style.
