OTF: Flyers recall D TJ Brennan and G Alex Lyon | NHL.com – NHL.com

The Philadelphia Flyers announced the following transactions today, according to general manager Ron Hextall:

* Flyers place defenseman Brandon Manning and goaltender Michal Neuvirth on Injured Reserve. 

* The club has recalled defenseman TJ Brennan and goaltender Alex Lyon from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Both Brennan and Lyon will be available for tonight’s game at Edmonton (9:30 pm ET: NBCSP & 97.5 The Fanatic). Brennan will wear #43 and Lyon will wear #49. Below are news & notes on each player.


* Leads the Phantoms defense in scoring with 15 points (2g-13a) in 17 games, which is also tied for seventh among AHL defensemen while his 13 assists are tied for fourth. 

* Appeared in one preseason game for the Flyers, recording a goal and seven shots on net in the club’s 3-2 loss to the Islanders on Sept. 20.

* A native of Willingboro, NJ – this is his first recall since signing with the Flyers organization on July 5 during free agency in 2016.

* In 2016-17, he led the Phantoms in overall scoring with 60 points (21g-39a), which also tied for the lead among all AHL defensemen in scoring. 

* Over the course of his AHL career, he has been named to AHL First All-Star Team three times (13-14, 15-16 & 16-17) and the AHL’s All-Star Classic in each of the last four seasons. 

* He is a two-time Eddie Shore Award recipient as the AHL’s best defenseman (2013-14 & 2015-16) and currently ranks second all all-time among AHL defensemen with 136 goals, and has 394 points in 536 career AHL games.

* Drafted in the second round (31st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Buffalo Sabres… Has appeared in 53 NHL games with the
