Officer finds rifle, ammunition while trying to arrest OWI suspect near … – WEAU

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) — A Fall Creek man is accused of having a rifle, loaded magazine and other ammunition in a school parking lot. An officer was about to arrest him on suspicion of drunk driving at the time.

Alex Gajewsky, 24, is charged with Possession of a Firearm on Grounds of a School and Possession of a Firearm While Intoxicated. He’s free on bond. The criminal complaint said that Gajewsky was parked in a parking lot at Chippewa Falls Middle School on Oct. 22. It said Gajewsky told an officer he drank vodka 45 minutes before parking in the lot. A preliminary breath test produced a result of .26 percent blood alcohol content, which is more than three times the legal limit for driving.

The complaint said the officer patted him down before arresting him for OWI, and found a loaded magazine in his left front shirt pocket. The officer also found a rifle in the back seat of the car and ammunition in the glove box. The complaint also said that the officer searched the vehicle for weapons because it was parked on school property.

The charges were filed on Tuesday. The Chippewa County Jail said Gajewsky posted $2,500 cash, and was released. He is not allowed to have or drink alcohol, have guns or dangerous weapons and can’t have contact with any Chippewa Falls school district property as conditions of his bond.
