Officer accused of taking money from evidence room to casino – WCVB Boston

Boston police Officer Joseph Nee is accused of stealing money from the department’s evidence room and trying to launder it at Plainridge Park Casino.

Nee, 44, was indicted Thursday by a Suffolk County grand jury on the charges of larceny and money laundering, according to Attorney General Maura Healey’s office.

Nee, who joined the department in 1998, was assigned to the Evidence Management Unit in Hyde Park.

Nee is accused of stealing approximately $2,000 from the evidence related to a closed bank robbery case in January, the AG’s Office said. The money was identified by red dye left over from an anti-theft device used during the robbery.

According to the AG’s Office, Nee fed the stained money into slot machines at the casino and then redeemed clean cash from a kiosk.
