Raise a glass at Polish Heritage Society’s Bigos and Beer fundraiser

The Polish Heritage Society is hosting a fundraiser featuring Polish beer and food.

The Bigos and Beer event begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Polish Home, 201 E. First St. in Papillion. Doors open at 6 p.m.

There will be a cash bar and a selection of Polish and eastern European beers accompanied by festive drinking songs. A meal featuring bigos, a Polish hunter’s stew, will be served.

The event is $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Polish Heritage Society’s St. John Paul II Scholarship Fund, which aids students of Polish ancestry beginning Catholic high school in the fall of 2018.

Midwest Hop Producers will host first Fresh Hop Festival

A new beer festival will highlight brews made with fresh Nebraska hops.

Midwest Hop Producers is hosting its first annual Fresh Hop Festival from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at The Hop Yard, 18003 Club View Drive in Plattsmouth.

The festival celebrates wet hop beers, in which hops are used within 24 hours of harvest. There will be beers from Infusion Brewing, Lucky Bucket Brewing, Brickway Brewery and Distillery and others.

Admission is $15 per day and includes a souvenir pint glass and first pour.

La Mesa to host ‘Day of the Dead’ tequila tasting

La Mesa Mexican Restaurant will host a special tequila tasting dinner in honor of the Mexican Day of the Dead.

The event will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 2 at the restaurant’s Bellevue location, 1405 Ft. Crook Road.

The tasting includes Herradura premium
