Johnny Gaudreau had a goal and an assist, Mike Smith made 33 saves, and the visiting Calgary Flames beat the NHL-leading Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.

Micheal Ferland, Sam Bennett, Mark Jankowski and Matthew Tkachuk also scored to help the Flames improve to 11-5-4 on the road.

Brayden Point scored for Tampa Bay.

The Lightning lost All-Star defenseman Victor Hedman midway through the second with a lower-body injury.

Bogosian out 4-6 weeks • Buffalo Sabres defenseman Zach Bogosian will miss between four and six weeks with an injury to his lower left leg. Coach Phil Housley provided the update Thursday morning before the Sabres’ home game against Columbus.

Bogosian was hurt in practice a day earlier. Bogosian fell awkwardly in the corner and had difficulty placing any weight on his left leg while being helped off the ice.

Dundon takes over Hurricanes • Dallas billionaire Tom Dundon has taken over as the majority owner of the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes.

Team officials said the sale closed Thursday, about two months after Dundon signed a purchase agreement to buy a majority stake in the franchise from longtime owner Peter Karmanos Jr. The NHL says its Board of Governors has given its approval.
