NBA Summer League 2017: Saturday Scores and Highlights from Las Vegas Results – Bleacher Report

The NBA Summer League will be down to its final four after Saturday’s play, as quarterfinal action took place in Las Vegas.

The No. 16 seed Portland Trail Blazers, a surprise quarterfinalist, started action against the eighth-seeded San Antonio Spurs. The Memphis Grizzlies and Miami Heat followed, but the real big names on the marquee came later in the evening.

Dennis Smith Jr., Jayson Tatum and Lonzo Ball were all scheduled to be in action in late games. Smith’s Dallas Mavericks took on Tatum’s Boston Celtics, while Ball’s Los Angeles Lakers looked to continue their way through the event with a win against the Brooklyn Nets.

Portland Trail Blazers 94, San Antonio Spurs 87

Jake Layman scored 23 points as one of four Blazers starters in double figures as Portland earned a 94-87 win over the Spurs to continue its surprising run to the semis.

Layman knocked down three of Portland’s seven threes and added seven rebounds. Rookie center Caleb Swanigan added 16 points and nine rebounds to continue his stellar showing in Vegas, while guards RJ Hunter (16 points) and Jorge Gutierrez (10 points) were also in double figures.

Zach Collins, Portland’s other first-round pick, did not play.

The Spurs were led by a 20-point effort by Derrick White off the bench. Jeff Ledbetter and Bryn Forbes each finished with 13 points, while Olivier Hanlan had 11 points and four assists.
