Chris Bosh had 26 points and 15 rebounds, Norris Cole scored a career-high 23 points after winning the starting point-guard job, and the Heat opened the post-LeBron James era with a 107-95 win over the visiting Wizards on Wednesday night.

Dwyane Wade added 21 points for Miami, 12 of those down the stretch after he briefly departed with a leg injury. Luol Deng, part of the class assembled this summer after James departed, scored 12.

Marcin Gortat and Drew Gooden led the Wizards with 18 points apiece. Paul Pierce added 17 in his Washington debut, and John Wall finished with 16 points and 11 assists.

Suns 119, Lakers 99: Isaiah Thomas scored 23 points in his Phoenix debut, Marcus Morris matched his career high with five three-pointers as the host Suns dominated their season opener against Los Angeles (0-2) despite Kobe Bryant‘s 31 points. … The Lakers were also blown out in their opener against Houston 108-90 on Tuesday, when they lost first-round draft pick Julius Randle (broken leg).

Rockets 104, Jazz 93: Dwight Howard had 22 points and 10 rebounds, and visiting Houston spoiled Quin Snyder’s NBA coaching debut. … James Harden added 18 points and 10 assists, and Trevor Ariza had 20 points for the Rockets (2-0). … Alec Burks led Utah with 18 points.
