4:30 p.m. DraftKings value picks for Wednesday

All season long,’s fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. These value plays can be used as a basis for your roster decision-making.

Nick Foligno, CBJ ($5,600 vs. BUF)

Foligno has primarily played center this season with Oliver Bjorkstrand (W, $4,200), forming a potential value stack against the Buffalo Sabres, who will be on the second leg of a back-to-back set. Foligno has had multiple shots on goal in each of his past five games and has scored at least one point in six of eight games this season. He plays on the first power-play unit with forwards Artemi Panarin, Cam Atkinson, Alexander Wennberg and defenseman Zach Werenski and is priced seventh among centers on this two-game slate.

Alexander Steen, STL ($4,800 vs. CGY)

Steen has no points through three games this season after injuring his hand during the preseason. That said, he’s a bounce-back candidate against the Calgary Flames, who will be on short rest after playing at the Nashville Predators on Tuesday. Steen’s peripherals have been solid (six shots on goal, two blocked shots), and fantasy owners shouldn’t sleep on his first power-play role with forwards Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz, Brayden Schenn and defenseman Alex Pietrangelo. Steen has 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) and 64 SOG in 28 career games against the Flames.
