All in poker pro loses 1.5 million-chip pot on a brutal river card – For The Win

After some dramatic hands near the bubble on Thursday, the PCA 2018 main event field quickly dwindled down into the 20s Friday afternoon – and one massive pot at the featured table saw a final table contender eliminated on the river.

Liv Boeree, holding Jack-10 suited, raised to 23,000 preflop, which drew a call from Karl Stark with pocket nines. Koray Aldemir, with Ace-King offsuit, re-raised to 100,000, which led Boeree to quickly fold.

Stark, however, responded to the 3-bet by going all in with a stack of 739,000, and Aldemir snap called. The two players had the biggest stacks at the table and were ahead of the field average, making for a massive pot worth 1,563,000.

Stark was a slight favorite preflop, and a flop of 4c-6s-Jc made him a 77 percent favorite. A Queen of hearts on the river opened up a straight draw for Aldemir, but he still only had eight potential outs.

The river, however, was brutal for Stark. A King of clubs knocked him out of the tournament in 26th, and left Aldemir with 1.83 million in chips. Stark cashed out for $33,300.
