Alcohol-related crashes up, DWI arrests down – Santa Fe New Mexican

In a trend that began last year, the number of alcohol-related crashes in Santa Fe continues to climb while the number of DWI arrests continues to fall, according to data released Thursday by the city police department. The situation prompted Santa Fe’s police chief to announce stepped-up efforts to curb drunken driving.

The department said officers responded to 30 alcohol-related crashes in the first three months of 2017, compared to 24 for the same period in 2016.
